Paddock now Assistant Coach

January 14, 2013

In the first two days of training camp, Assistant GM John Paddock was on the ice with the team.

Turns out there is a reason for that. Paddock has moved from the Assistant GM job to become an assistant coach.

Paddock told CSNPhilly.com's Tim Panaccio that he is no longer related to the Assistant GM job and his new responsibilities as an assistant coach will have a primary focus on defense.

PhiladelphiaFlyers.com's Anthony SanFilippo reported over Twitter that current Assistant Coaches Craig Berube and Kevin McCarthy will remain at their posts behind bench.

Paddock will be operating out of the press box during regular season games with Goaltending Coach Jeff Reese and Assistant coach Joe Mullen according to SanFilippo

Paddock is the fourth Assistant Coach on the team.

There is no word yet if GM Paul Holmgren will assign a new Assistant GM.

In Other News: According to Randy Miller of the Courier Post, the Flyers placed defenseman Danny Syvret and forward Matt Ford on waivers. Both players have been playing with the Phantoms.

Danny Briere's wrist injury has been revealed to be a hairline fracture, but SanFilippo tweeted that he is recovering faster than expected.

Briere has yet to skate at training camp and is questionable for the season opener.
