Hextall returns to Flyers as assistant GM

Ron Hextall has made his way back to the Flyers.

The Flyers named Hextall assistant general manager and director of hockey operations on Monday.

The former goaltender previously served as the assistant GM for the Los Angeles Kings, who won the Stanley Cup in 2012, from 2006 up until this past season.

He was also a scout for the Flyers after he retired as a player in 1999 and was promoted to director of pro hockey personnel in 2002. Hextall then left for Los Angeles following the 2005-06 season.

Hextall, now 49, played 13 years in the NHL (1986-99), 11 of them were in Philadelphia (86-92, 94-99). He established himself as one of the most memorable Flyers during his career, not just for his play in net, but by also becoming the first goaltender to score a goal...

....And by not taking crap from anybody.
