The Flyers signed defenseman Erik Gustafsson to a one-year, $1 million contract on Tuesday and it is a one-way deal, according to Flyers Inside Reporter Anthony SanFilippo.

The 24-year old defenseman completed the final year of his three-year entry-level deal this past season. He started the season with the AHL affiliated Adirondack Phantoms, but was able to make his way up to Philadelphia, averaging 20:09 of ice time in 27 games.

Gustafsson finished the 2013 season with three goals, five assists and a minus-1 rating. He has played in 60 games for the Flyers over the past three seasons, scoring four goals and nine assists with an overall plus-10 rating.

Although a bit undersized a 5' 10" and less than 200 pounds, Gustafsson is a mobile defenseman, which allows him to be a good two-way player.

With Gustafsson signed for the year, the Flyers now have nine defenseman under contract. They are currently more than $2 million over the NHL's $64.3 million salary cap.
